Women In Wine
Jules Ashmead - Elderton (NSW Only)
Head Winemaker Jules Ashmead is a fifth-generation winemaker from the iconic Campbells of Rutherglen. As Head of Production at Elderton, she oversees both viticulture and winemaking across the estate.
With global vintage experience and senior roles, Jules brings generational knowledge and refined technical precision to the Barossa.
Alongside her husband Cameron, she is also raising the next generation of Ashmead’s – continuing a proud family legacy.
Jo Irvine - Levrier
Owner and Winemaker Jo Irvine established Levrier in 2017 to champion the pure expression of Barossa’s often-overlooked varietals, particularly Cabernet Franc and Merlot.
A second-generation winemaker, Jo is internationally recognised for her textured, elegant wines and rare releases such as her sparkling Meslier Brut Rosé.
Producing approximately 4,000 cases annually from carefully selected single-vineyard sites, Jo’s philosophy is simple: perfection lies in doing the little things brilliantly.
Jo Bradbury - 3 Drops
Founded by Jo Bradbury, 3 Drops reflects over two decades of dedication to the Great Southern region.
What began in 1999 as a vineyard planting on the family farm in Mount Barker has grown into one of the region’s most respected producers.
Joanne’s leadership blends sustainability, integrity, and a deep respect for land, producing wines – and premium olive oils – that speak clearly of place.
Bec Duffy - Holm Oak
Owner and Winemaker Bec Duffy has led Holm Oak for nearly two decades.
With vintages in McLaren Vale, Napa Valley, and Coonawarra before returning home to Tasmania, Bec combines global experience with deep local knowledge.
A recipient of the Australian Women in Wine Owner/Operator Award and the RIRDC Rural Women’s Award, she has established Holm Oak as one of Tasmania’s leading family-owned brands.
Olivia Zak-Magdziarz - Liv Zak
Created by founder and winemaker Olivia Zak-Magdziarz, Liv Zak Wines reflect a bold, modern voice grounded in place.
Raised on her family’s vineyard in Victoria’s Macedon Ranges and Yarra Valley, Olivia developed an early and enduring connection to winemaking. After spending time working abroad in a different industry, she returned to her first passion and is now fully committed to the family business. Olivia works alongside her parents managing the Warramunda Estate wine business and is involved across all areas of operations, including viticulture and winemaking.
In parallel, she has significantly grown her own label, Liv Zak Wine, in recent years. Deeply committed to sustainable practices, Olivia focuses on crafting elegant, vibrant, premium wines that authentically express the land from which they come.
Monica Gray - See Saw
Monica Gray has led the winemaking team at See Saw since 2021.
Prior to joining See Saw, Monica was the winemaker for Tamburlaine Organic Wines in Orange and Mount Majura Vineyard in Canberra. Monica loves the intersection between science and creativity that winemaking brings. Having the opportunity to work with premium organic fruit in Orange, is the icing on the cake!
Monica’s role at See Saw is to nurture and guide the grape’s journey to bottle while preserving the intricacies and nuances of each parcel. Using a considered and thoughtful approach, Monica creates wines of purity, elegance, and joy.
Monica is an alumnus of Wine Australia’s Future Leaders program and the Len Evans Tutorial. She is also a regular judge at wine shows and a strong advocate for early-career professionals in the industry. Monica’s favourite wine to make and drink is Chardonnay. Lucky that Orange has some of Australia’s best!
Adele & Renee Murphy - Half Sister
Founded by sisters Adele Murphy and Renee Murphy, Half Sister was created to suit modern drinking occasions without compromising quality.
Renee studied business marketing and has spent the past 20 years working in the wine industry, specifically for the family wine business, Trentham Estate. Her career began humbly with grape picking, moving through the business and for the past 15 years has focused on sales and marketing.
Adele studied and worked as a physiotherapist for 10 years. In her early years, she also gained hands-on experience working in the laboratory and cellar door of her family’s winery.
Raised on the family winery, the sister’s lifestyle changed as they became mums – reducing their own intake and noticing a broader shift in how the next generation was choosing to drink. Opening a bottle for a glass or two over the weekend, and too often the half-finished bottles were going to waste. Drawing on their experience, Half Sister was born. Carefully curating wines women will love—offering the full indulgence and experience of wine, without the guilt or pressure of committing to a full bottle.
Jules Taylor - Jules Taylor
Owner and Winemaker Jules Taylor has quite literally grown up with Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. After global vintages and rising to Group Senior Winemaker, she launched her own label in 2001 with just 200 cases.
Today she is one of New Zealand’s most recognised winemakers, recently awarded NZ Winemaker of the Year by Gourmet Traveller Wine – celebrated for her vibrant, memory-making wines.
Marcia Torres Forno - Matanza Creek
Winemaker Marcia Torres Forno approaches winemaking as a relationship with the land, guided by deep respect for the vineyard and a commitment to sustainable farming.
Born in Santiago, Chile, her fascination with wine began in childhood and has evolved into a 20+ year international career. An aromatic specialist, Marcia spends much of her time in the vines studying sunlight, soil, and wind to understand each site’s full potential – an approach that shines particularly in her Sauvignon Blancs.
Since joining Matanzas Creek in 2010, she has crafted wines known for their elegance, balance, and site expression.
Lucie Depuydt - J. Moreau & Fils
Winemaker Lucie Depuydt embodies the house philosophy of “viniculture” – the seamless link between work in the vineyard and craftsmanship in the cellar.
Born and raised in Chablis, Lucie brings a deep understanding of the region’s limestone soils and Chardonnay’s delicate aromatic potential. Like a jeweller shaping a gemstone, she carefully guides each stage of production to reveal the purity and precision that define Chablis.
Overseeing the equivalent of a 200-hectare estate, Lucie works closely with partner growers from plot selection through harvest, vinification, and blending, ensuring each wine captures the distinctive character of its terroir.
Maria Fittipaldi - Donne Fittipaldi
Led by Maria Fittipaldi alongside her four daughters – Carlotta, Giulia, Serena, and Valentina – Donne Fittipaldi is a powerful example of multi-generational female leadership in Bolgheri.
Drawn to the light, landscape and spirit of this iconic Tuscan region, the family planted Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec, crafting wines of structure and refinement that reflect both place and purpose.
Andrea Ferreyra - La Celia
Head Winemaker Andrea Ferreyra brings over 20 years of experience to La Celia.
A graduate of Universidad Juan Agustín Maza with postgraduate studies in Quality Management from Vineyard to Wine, Andrea joined La Celia in the 2006 harvest and was appointed Chief Winemaker in 2012.
Her dedication and technical excellence were recognised internationally when she was awarded Best Female Winemaker at the 5th SAKURA Japan Women’s Wine Awards.
Andrea’s approach blends precision, passion, and a deep respect for Mendoza’s terroir.
